One of Ives' first published works for organ, Variations on "America" uses the de facto national anthem of the United Kingdom "God Save the King/Queen", otherwise known in the United States as "My Country, 'Tis of Thee". Twisting this melody through different styles and keys this work showcases playful and powerful passages, using the range and technical ability trumpet to carry the work through each variation.
